Courage

Real change is difficult at the beginning but gorgeous at the end. Change begins the moment you get the courage and step outside your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone.

Hello Friends,

With the new year approaching and dealing with many adversities this year, I decided to inspire the courage inside us all. I work in the wedding industry, and it took a hit with the COVID-19 pandemic. However, that didn't stop the sector or me from having the strength to be innovative during this time. I want to share the tips I used to affirm my courage throughout the year.

Conquering fear with action

To build courage and conquer fear, one should determine what the fear is and how to create action to walk into the possible unknown. Take time to ponder fears and brainstorm actions encouraging you to follow through.  It is best if this action plan is written to allow for more accountability and consistency. Be specific with details in your plan, which helps keep your goals reasonable and attainable. Keeping track of progress helps continue the development of behavior and affirms courage. Lastly, find a person to help you through this time. Having this support can provide accountability and encouragement. No matter how small or large the action is to conquer the unknown, it is one step closer to unleashing your courage.

Changing your mindset

A positive mindset is needed to strengthen during times of fear, grief, or pain. Understanding that the negatives will happen and how we deal with them defines a lot about our character. A simple way to keep a positive mindset is by having motivating and encouraging quotes on a screensaver, fridge, or anywhere you look the most as a reminder to have courage and confidence. Certain items or objects can also be used as a reminder. I have a bracelet that says “Smell the Roses” this little symbol reminds me to have the courage to be patient with life. Another way to help reset your mindset is to meditate or journal. These two actions allow for your brain to become still to allow for clarity. Keep in mind that we can always learn from the downfalls of life, which create positivity and success. Our attitude and thoughts can be changed only by the keyholder, you!

Thinking outside the box

A parallel to changing your mindset is thinking outside the box. Sticking to what's familiar or comfortable keeps us in “the box.” When the normal isn't getting things accomplished for you, it is time to think outside the box, which means trying new things and stepping outside your comfort zone. This step allows for other perspectives to be seen and opens up to various points of view. The plus to taking these risks is an action plan that helps your risks be calculated and move at your speed towards building courage.

Some of our favorite stories are based on people being courageous, and I want to remind you that courage is defined differently by everyone. To have courage is to have strength in a time of pain, fear, and grief, which you describe. Building courage and conquering fear, take a deep look into what anxiety is and how to create action to walk into the possible unknown. Keep a positive mindset while building courage. It will show strength during this time. Continue to think outside the box, to open up your perspectives, and you don’t know what you will see until you step out. These tips supported me through this hectic year, and I hope they will bring you strength in times of pain, fear, and grief in the coming year.
