Balance

Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create.
— Jana Kingsford

Hello Friends,

Clients ask me, “When life gets busy, how am I supposed to preserve my inner peace?” My answer to them is balance! Many of us get distracted by meeting the needs of others that depend on us, and we forget or put off giving ourselves an equal share of meeting our own needs. This equal share we take for ourselves strengthens the harmony within us to be able to share the best we have to offer to the world. Therefore, creating a balance in life is essential to keep inner peace intact. Below are a few tips you can start doing today to help create harmony within your life that can lead to your tranquility.

Tip#1: Tell yourself, “I deserve a break”:

Many of us choose not to have a break because we believe we don’t have the time to take one. Sometimes, we do not permit ourselves to take a break, and telling ourselves the statement, “I deserve a break.” justifies taking a break. Set a timer every 90 minutes to give your body and brain a break from your task, even if it’s a two-minute break. Use this time to stretch, go for a walk, eat a healthy snack, or spend time with loved ones. You’ll notice that you feel more refreshed and ready to finish the rest of your workload.

Tip#2: Set Boundaries with Self & Others:

Setting boundaries allows for balance to flow by creating limits for yourself to ensure you reach the tranquility you deserve. A few common examples of setting boundaries are having a cut-off time of the workday or implementing rules with children during work time. Take time out today to ponder on boundaries to be set and how to enact those boundaries. And don’t forget to reward yourself for keeping your established boundaries. Celebrate your accomplishment! Tip #3: Have Alone Time:

It is difficult to get a second to breathe away from everyone that depends on you. Right now, it is crucial to get some time to yourself to be better for yourself and the people you love. Fill that time for yourself whenever you have some free time without interruptions. And if you don’t have free time, make some! Express to your loved ones that you need alone time and reaffirm those boundaries you have already established with them. You can use this time to encourage children and others to understand that having alone time refreshes the body, mind, and soul.  Studies have shown children taught healthy solitary time habits are better behaved—being this role model for your children will only strengthen your bonds with each other, which sounds like a great reason to put yourself first from time to time.

I challenge you to give yourself the personal tranquility you deserve by creating breaks, establishing boundaries, and taking alone time to meet your needs. If you don’t do it for yourself, who will?

If you enjoyed this blog, I would be very grateful if you help by spreading the message to your friends, family, or anyone you have on social media.

Many blessings, and remember, you are a miracle!
